'Wood Joint' Bookshelf

Picture 1

This bookshelf i call it 'Wood Joint' bookshelf. It is mainly still a bookshelf doweled onto the wall but as you see it is much more lighter consisting of only 2 pieces of wood and it is 1 meter long and 0.3 meter wide, so i think it is structurally feasible, and also i design the joint to seperate this one meter piece of wood.

The main feature of this bookshelf is i used these wood joint samples as the thing to divides the different catagory of books and also to supports the books to stand steadily on the bookshelf. When people use it, just pull one of the wood joint out and slide them to divide the groups of books. When there are not so many books on the books, these pieces of wood joints could be joint together and leave them at the side. (as show in the 1st picture)

These wood joint sample are 'Dovetail joint', 'Lap joint', 'Tongue and Groove' and 'Lock Miter Joint' (see picture below)

There is the hole for the wood joint sample to be sliding on the bookshelf. The purpose that i made this wood joint sample is because i want people to realise the smartness of wood joint when they play around with them. It will make people interested in the wood joint and actually think about them as how they are created, and maybe there is when people start to get instereted into the Australia wood spieces or industry.

Basically, there is a roundish base for the wood joint sample which fit into the hole and sliding alone the bookshelf.

The vertical wood piece is joint with the bookshelf with a Mortise and Tenon joint, and splined edge joint is used to joint the long piece of wood which make it possible to divide this 1 meter into 2 of 0.5 meter wood pieces.
At the back it is still the dowels which nail the bookshelf onto the wall but i think this time is strong enough to support a simple bookshelf like this.
